Nick Crowell, a Cleveland Detective, was shot in the line of duty in a cemetery four years ago. While he did survive and returned to active duty, because of what happened, every few months he encounters people who have strange life changing phenomenon happening to them and for some reason they all come to him for help.
His problem is that he has no experience in this kind of thing and in most cases there’s nothing he can do for them and this weighs on him.

To further complicate Crowell's life, he is still in love with his ex-wife who is now remarried and living in Jersey.

Also, he's  been assigned to break in a black female partner, the strikingly beautiful Jay Cole, a single mom whose husband left her seven years ago under mysterious circumstances.

Guiding him through all of this is an ex-cop by the name of Phil who runs a bar called No Promises as well as a mysterious man who calls himself, Mr. Bones. And he only contacts Crowell over the phone.

This novella is rated PG for some language and mild sexual content
Portions of the sales of this book will be donated to charity

E-Book format on Kindle
Penny Lang volunteers at a local food bank and delivers hot lunches to shut ins. Her newest client is a widower, Martin Brooks, who lives in a run down house on the Cleveland border. The unusual thing about Martin's house from everyone else she delivers to, is that Martin's living room is filled with books! There isn't one wall in the living room that doesn't have two or three bookcase loaded with books!
Over time, she discovers that it was his late wife, Alice, who would buy up boxes of used books at garage sales- never wanting to leave even one book behind. Since he hated arguing with her about it, the piles of books grew. First in the garage and then the living room.
In fact, the living room is now over run with hundreds- if not thousands- of books and Martin's daughter, fearing for his well being, is pressuring him to move into an adult care facility where he can meet new friends.
Seeing that he is overwhelmed by it all, Penny befriends him and in her spare time helps him begin to sort through the piles of books. Some to sell, some to donate and the rest to pitch. But will it be enough to convince his daughter that he can handle living on his own?
Martin's House of Books is a Young Adult story about friendship and the idiosyncrasies many of us tend to overlook in our friends and loved ones.
